About the Author
Danielle Murphy is a foster carer, advocate, and writer passionate about providing safe and loving homes for children in need. With years of experience navigating the complexities of Australia’s foster care system—both as a carer and a professional working within the sector—Danielle brings a unique and deeply personal perspective to her work.
Her journey into foster care was shaped by a lifelong desire to provide stability to children without families, as well as her own experiences with infertility and adoption. Alongside her husband, she has opened her home to multiple children, facing both the heartbreak and the joy that come with loving kids who may not stay forever.
Through her writing, Danielle seeks to share the unfiltered realities of foster care—the challenges, the losses, and the profound moments of connection. She is committed to advocating for systemic change, supporting new carers, and ensuring that every child has the opportunity to grow up in a nurturing environment.
When she’s not writing or caring for children, Danielle enjoys learning, spending time at the beach, playing soccer, and building her growing publishing business. She also runs the non-profit Hope and Transformation Initiative, a project dedicated to supporting foster carers across Australia. Hearts in Transition: Navigating Love and Loss in Foster Care is her first book, written to offer hope, honesty, and encouragement to current carers and those considering this life-changing journey.
